WACO, TX — Michael Beheler, the owner of Our Breakfast Place in Waco, is feeling the effects of the to-go or delivery only restrictions.
Our Breakfast Place usually prepares for 500 customers in the morning.
They're now only serving about 100 take-out orders a day.
"When we have to lock down, the first thing you think is what are you going to do to pay the bills," Beheler said.
Beheler was put in a position he didn't want, and was forced to lay off some of their employees after restrictions were put in place.
Luckily, he's still able to help those that he had to fire.
"[We'll give the employees] extra toilet paper from the supplier, or help them with food if we can't sell it," Beheler said.
Supporting local businesses is crucial during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Fred Johnson and his friends chose to take out and eat their breakfast six feet apart from each other in the parking lot.
"I texted them and said 'this is the plan,' here we are." Johnson said.
They come together four times a week for breakfast, and they didn't want to break tradition with a simple phone call.
"We're just trying to help support local businesses and keep things going as best we can," Johnson said.
