Belton Chief of Police Gene Ellis confirmed in a statement that Jose Luis "Joe" Ramirez Jr. has died from his injuries.
Police said Ramirez was stabbed during a fight in a bathroom on school grounds.
"I am so sorry to have to provide this update," he said. "My prayers are with the family and the entire Belton High School community."
FIFTH UPDATE:
Christ the King Catholic Church in Belton is hosting Mass at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday night to pray for those who have been affected by the recent Belton High School incident.
Father Sang Quan invites the community to join and gather together.
"We entrust all of those who are experiencing heartache, pain, or suffering, to the Most Sacred Heart of Christ through the Immaculate Hands of Our Mother Mary," he said.
After Mass, a Rosary will be conducted for the students, faculty, staff, and first responders of Belton ISD, he said.

FOURTH UPDATE:
18-year-old student Jose "Joe" Ramirez has died from his injuries.
Multiple sources confirmed to KXXV about his passing.
He was a senior at Belton High School.
THIRD UPDATE:
Mayor Wayne Carpenter released a statement Tuesday on the recent Belton High School stabbing expressing his condolence and sorrow for the victim, family, and community.
Carpenter states he has all of the Belton High School and Belton ISD family in his thoughts and prayers.
"I have full confidence in the leadership at Belton High School and Belton ISD... Please be in prayer for all involved," said Carpenter.
SECOND UPDATE:
An 18-year-old male suspect is now in custody and is being interviewed by authorities, according to the Belton Police Department.
Caysen Tyler Allison is being screened for a felony with 48-hour hold.
His bond will be set upon being charged.
One Belton High School student is receiving treatment for an injury related to this incident at a local hospital, police said.
Belton police thanked the Temple Police Department for their assistance and stated that police are still on campus, continuing their active investigation into this incident.

UPDATE:
Belton High School students are currently in the reunification process with parents, according to reporters on scene.
Buses have been sent to drop off students at Tiger Field to then be picked up by their parents.
Students who drive have also been sent instructions on how to get home.
