Walmart is officially expanding its animal care business. While the superstore already has 21 vet clinics nationwide, it has just announced that this number will soon grow to 100.

So, not only will you be able to buy dog food or cat supplies like litter boxes at your favorite Walmart location, you might also be able to bring in your pet for a checkup. Whether your beloved furry friends need routine shots or treatment for a minor health condition, Walmart has you covered.

Walmart shoppers in the Dallas/Fort Worth area will be the first to enjoy this expansion project, as nine new clinics are being developed in the Texas region, and they can expect to enjoy the trademark Walmart savings along with top-notch veterinary care.

“With plans to reach 100 veterinary clinics over the next 12 months, these clinics offer affordable, high quality and convenient services to save customers as much as 40 to 60 percent on vaccines and minor illness packages and exams,” explains a recent Walmart press release.

Additionally, shoppers will be able to buy their pets’ prescriptions online via the new WalmartPetRx and have medications shipped to them at home. So, whether you need Trazodone for an anxious pup who hates thunderstorms or eye drops for your kitty, you can easily order the medications online.

Can’t wait for delivery at your home? No problem. By the end of May, if your pet has a pressing medical need, you will be able to turn to your local Walmart pharmacy for same-day pickup. As part of this new expansion into the pet care business, Walmart pledges to stock 30 of the most requested pet medications at its pharmacies, providing a quick solution for those times when you need meds for your pet right away.

In addition to offering an online pet pharmacy and expanding its in-store vet clinics, Walmart will also begin to stock more wholesome pet food for your furry best friends.
