WACO, TX — Waco police officer Myana Johnson has patrolled the streets for 7 years and loves getting involved in community events.

"It's really good when the community sees us not as officers, but as people who enjoy little things like jump-roping," said Johnson.

She says it let's people see officers as normal people.

"In all reality, no one calls us on a good day. They don't call us because they are having a good day and they want to tell us about it, so we are exposed to so much negativity that it's good to see kids laughing and playing, and it is so good to be a part of that."

Johnson hopes more people will see officers who protect Waco streets, as people just like them.

"A lot of people do not see us in a good light so just little clips of us being normal and to show people we are not just here to ruin someones day, the clips help the community see us in a good light."

A light that sometimes shines on the bad but also wants to shine on the good, too.
