WACO, TX — Waco police have identified the driver who was killed after a fiery 18-wheeler crash at a gas station early Thursday morning.
The fire department said the tractor-trailer crashed into fuel pumps at a gas station on S. 18th Street around 1:40 a.m. The 18-wheeler was carrying TVs.
The driver, 41-year-old Gabriel Leyva of San Juan, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was found in the cab of the truck.
The gas pumps and power at the gas station were turned off as crews work to clean up the area. The gas pump that was hit is charred from the fire. The awning over the pumps has also been damaged.
The 18-wheeler also knocked down the traffic lights at the intersection, as well as one of the poles used to hold the CEFCO sign.
