WACO, TX — A man is dead after a metal piece from a sign crashed through the windshield of the car he was traveling.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened around 10:20 a.m. on Friday, October 25 on I-35 near mile marker 338, north of Waco.
An SUV was attempting to merge when it struck a construction sign, knocking it into the roadway. A pickup truck was traveling southbound when it ran over a sign that was in the roadway.
A metal piece of that sign went into the air and crashed through the windshield of a Ford passenger car.
The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as 55-year-old Rodolfo Guerra of Mansfield, Texas.
The driver of the Ford is believed to be okay.
DPS says next of kin have not been notified. The investigation is still active.
