TEMPLE, TX –The Temple Police Department says they will initiate an investigation into the DWI arrest of a 15-year TPD veteran.
Belton Police contacted TPD leadership late last night to inform them of the alleged DWI incident of Officer Joseph Clark that occurred inside their jurisdiction.
TPD says they are working with Belton PD to obtain all of the information related to the situation.
Clark has been placed on paid investigative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
He was off duty at the time of his arrest, and was not representing the City of Temple, nor acting in any official capacity during the alleged offense, according to TPD.
"I am disappointed in the conduct that led to this arrest," Interim Chief Jim Tobin said. "The officer will be held accountable to the standards and policies of the Temple Police Department."
The criminal investigation into the incident will be conducted by the Belton Police Department.
