Belton police said one person was killed and another person was injured after a crash on Interstate 35 that was caused by a suspected wrong-way driver.
Police said the crash happened around 9:30 p.m., shutting down southbound I-35 at exit No. 287 and Amity Road. All traffic was diverted to the access road as crews worked to clear the area.
Texas Department of Transportation said at least one person died, but did not provide any further information on the fatality.
The injured person was taken to Baylor Scott & White for unknown injuries.
The southbound lanes were reopened by 3:15 a.m.
