University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s basketball player Brian Long has been named American Southwest Conference West Division Co-Player of the Week for the week ending February 17th. This is the second ASC weekly honor of the season for Long and the seventh overall for a Cru player.

Long, a senior forward from Killeen High School, averaged 26.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in leading UMHB to a pair of wins last week. He shot 72 percent from the field and 80 percent from three-point range as the Cru clinched the outright ASC West Division title. Long had 33 points in a win over Sul Ross State to open the week and added 20 points in last Saturday’s victory over Howard Payne. He also recorded five assists. Long shares this week’s honor with Joe Neal of Concordia Texas.

The UMHB men finished the regular season at 20-5 overall and went 11-5 in conference play to win the ASC West Division title. The Cru will face East Texas Baptist University in a 2:30 pm Quarterfinal game in the ASC Championship Tournament Thursday in Richardson.
