Officials identify victims of deadly I-35 crash in Troy

Officials identify the victims in the major I-35 crash that involved three 18-wheelers.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, at approximately 2:52 a.m. a three-vehicle crash occurred on I-35 southbound in Bell County between Troy and the Bell County and Falls County line.

An 18-wheeler, 2018 International, was traveling southbound when it slowed down for unknown reasons. An 18-wheeler who was traveling behind the truck, a 2019 Freightliner, slowed as well. 

Another 18-wheeler, 2018 Volvo, that was traveling behind the two could not slow down in time and struck a truck. It then caused to hit the rear of the other 18-wheeler. 

The driver of the International, 52-year-old Robert Sillemon was transported to Baylor Scott and White for non-incapacitating injuries. The driver of the Freightliner, 47-year-old Christopher Humbert, was transported to the hospital was no serious injuries as well.

The driver of the Volvo, 34-year-old John Davis, was killed. An investigation showed that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
