University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s basketball player Byrale Carter has been named American Southwest Conference West Division Co-Player of the Week for the week ending February 3rd. This is the first player of the week honor of Carter’s career and the sixth of the season for the UMHB men.

Carter, a junior guard from Shoemaker High School in Killeen, averaged 19.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game over two Cru road wins last week. Carter also had six assists and six steals while shooting 73 percent from the field and hitting 4-5 three-point shots on the week. He opened the week with a career-high 24 points in a win at McMurry and then scored 15 second-half points to help UMHB gain some separation in a victory over Hardin-Simmons to close out the week.

The Cru is 17-5 overall and has an 8-5 record in ASC play this season. UMHB will host Concordia Texas for a 3 pm start this Saturday. The Cru and Tornados are tied for first place in the ASC West going into that game.
