A bill was filed in the Texas House of Representatives on Thursday to rename a portion of U.S. Highway 84 after Damon Allen.

Damon Allen was a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper who was killed on Thanksgiving Day 2017 while conducting a traffic stop.

If passed, the portion of the highway in Limestone County would be designated as the Damon Allen Memorial Highway on Sept. 1, 2019.

The bill was filed by State Rep. Kyle Kacal.
