McLennan Baseball won their first home games of the year Monday in a double header against Angelina.
Over the weekend, the two teams played in Lufkin, Texas, and that's when the Highlanders' sophomores served their suspension. McLennan lost both games.
But Monday, the Highlanders redeemed themselves as they swept the Roadrunners, winning 9-1 and 7-5.
Head Coach Mitch Thompson was proud of his team's at bats, their team defense and believes they will have a deep pitching line up this year.
Overall, Coach Thompson said the two games Monday were the perfect time to reset and get his team on the right, winning page moving forward.
"It was good wins today. Opener was tough over there the other day. We had kind of half of our team together. The guys played hard, they just didn't play exceptionally well. It was kind of a new experience for everybody. So, to come back here today and get these two wins was big. It was a great step forward for us, and it was nice to have our entire ball club with us. It feels good," Coach Thompson said.
The Highlanders' next game is Friday in Midland. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
