Authorities have identified a man who drowned in Lake Whitney on Sunday night.
Just after 7 p.m., Hill County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the Juniper Cove area to reports of a man calling for help from a personal watercraft.
Bystanders say they immediately ran to help, but weren't able to locate the man.
Search crews from Hill County, Texas Parks and Wildlife and the White Bluff Volunteer Fire Department launched boats to search the water. Hill County Emergency Management also deployed a drone to help search from the air.
Just before 9:30 p.m., a body was located in the water near the shoreline. Authorities identified the remains as those of 49-year-old Louis Whitmeyer from Fortine, Montana. Officials say he was in the area working on a pipeline project.
Whitmeyer's body was sent to Dallas for an autopsy.
