UMHB women's tennis picked 5th in ASC preseason poll

The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s tennis team is picked to finish fifth in the West Division of the American Southwest Conference in the league’s fifth annual Preseason Coaches’ Poll. UMHB’s Alexandra Kyser and Payton Burk were also both named to the ASC Preseason Players to Watch list.

The Cru totaled 40 points in balloting of ASC West Division head coaches to finish as the pick at #5. U.T. Dallas was picked to win the West Division with 12 first-place votes and 89 total points. Hardin-Simmons University was picked second with 62 total points. McMurry University is picked third with 61 total points, and Concordia Texas took the other first-place vote and 60 total points as the pick to finish fourth. Howard Payne University was picked sixth with 26 total points and Sul Ross State University rounds out the West Division Poll with 25 total points. East Texas Baptist University was picked to win the East Division with 12 first-place votes and 64 total points.

Kyser and Burk represent UMHB on the Preseason Players to Watch list. Kyser is a freshman from Seven Lakes High School. Burk is a sophomore from Nevada State High School.

The UMHB women return three letter winners from a team that finished 0-11 overall last season. The Cru posted an 0-6 mark in ASC West Division play. The UMHB women will open the 2019 spring schedule with a non-conference home match against Schreiner University on February 16th.
