Six boat ramps that reopened last month after the October floods are closed again due to the record-breaking rainfall last week.
According to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Lead Park Ranger at Waco Lake Michael Champagne, before the rain, Lake Waco was a foot higher than normal.
Currently, the lake is 10 feet higher its normal elevation of 462 feet.
Champagne said it was necessary to close the ramps for safety reasons and to prevent damage to vehicles and ramps.
"Here all we can is wait for the water to go back down. We need to clean up like we did in the October floods. Hopefully the clean up is not as bad as floods prior and we can just get it back open to the public to use," Champagne said.
The Speegleville and Midway Park campgrounds remain open.
