Cleveland Browns elevate UMHB alum Blake Jackson to active roster

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Former University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football standout Blake Jackson has been promoted to the Cleveland Browns’ active roster for Sunday’s season finale against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. Jackson had been on the Browns practice squad for nine weeks and will suit up as a wide receiver for Sunday’s game. He replaces injured linebacker Tanner Vallejo on the Browns roster.

Jackson was a three-year letter winner at quarterback for the Cru and led UMHB to the national championship as a senior in 2016. The Houston native was named Most Outstanding Player in the Stagg Bowl after guiding the Cru to a 10-7 win over Wisconsin-Oshkosh for the program’s first national title. Jackson also earned All-American and All-Region honors from D3football.com as a senior. He was voted American Southwest Conference Offensive Player of the Year after throwing for 3,282 yards and 35 touchdowns and rushing for 904 yards and 11 more scores as a senior. Jackson was also an Academic All-Conference selection at UMHB.
