In a back and forth game that didn’t see many stops, it was Baylor’s defense that sealed the win over Vanderbilt.

Vanderbilt started the game hot with a Kyle Shurmur screen pass going 65 yards for a touchdown.

Baylor settled for a field goal, then scored on a John Lovett rush, and then promptly gave up a 60+ yard score to Commodore running back Keyshawn Vaughn.

The second quarter started with Bears running back JaMycal Hasty burst for another Baylor score and the lead.

Next Vandy drive though, Vaughn went 80+ to re-take control for the Commodores.

Both teams would trade missed field goals and Vanderbilt would take a 21-17 lead into the break.

Baylor would start the third quarter at full speed. Running back Trestan Ebner scored from 21 yards out on the opening possession.

Next drive, quarterback Charlie Brewer snuck into the end zone to extend the lead to 31-21.

The fourth quarter continued the early trend with Vaughn going 75 yards to set up a Vandy score and the lead.

Baylor rallied on the next play win Brewer tossing Ebner a 75-yard touchdown of his own.

Baylor wideout Marques Jones added another long score for the Baylor offense to make it 45-38 in the fourth.

That’s when the Bears defense forced a turnover on downs and Baylor’s offense ran out the clock to seal the victory.
