A Belton police officer was injured in an accident on I-35 Wednesday morning.
According to police, at about 8:15 a.m. the driver of a Toyota Camry on southbound I-35 fell asleep at the wheel and clipped another vehicle, a blue Nissan SUV.
The driver of the Nissan then hit a Belton police unit which was monitoring traffic near an I-35 ramp at the 200 block of I-35.
The driver of a Nissan and the officer were transported to Baylor Scott and White. The officer was alert and able to walk.
The Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.
