No. 23 Texas A&M puts a five-game win streak on the line, as the Aggies host Prairie View A&M in a women’s basketball game at 6:30 p.m. Friday inside Reed Arena. The first 500 fans through the north and south entrances receive Texas A&M ornaments, and tickets start at $5 for adults and $3 for youth as Holiday Hoops continues.
The game is available on SEC Network +, which provides events to SEC Network subscribers through WatchESPN and the ESPN app on smartphones, computers, tablets and connected devices (Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Xbox 360 and Xbox One). The game airs on local radio on The Zone 1150 AM / 102.7 FM, with Tom Turbiville and Tap Bentz on the call.
The Aggies (9-2) are coming off of a 71-51 win over previously unbeaten Southern California, who is ranked No. 25 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Kayla Wells lead the team in scoring with a career-high 26 points, 13 of which came in the third quarter. Chennedy Carter scored 23 points and had a career-high 11 rebounds, the first of her three career double-doubles that consisted of points and rebounds. N’dea Jones had 17 rebounds, becoming the first Texas A&M player since 1983-84 with back-to-back games with 17+ boards.
Prairie View A&M (3-6) lost 94-46 to Iowa State on Wednesday, but has played the eighth-toughest schedule in Division I so far. Shala Dobbins leads the Lady Panthers with 12.0 points per game, and is joined in double figures by Dominique Newman at 10.1. Ke’Asia Williams leads the team with 8.3 rebounds per game.
The Aggies defeated Prairie View 98-70 last season, the Aggies’ 19th straight win over their fellow A&M System school. Khaalia Hillsman, a senior on last season’s team, led the Aggies with 20 points in the game.
