Baylor Bears eagerly await bowl game, festivities

Posted

The Bears are less than a week away from traveling down to Houston for all the Texas Bowl festivities and the long-awaited Big 12-SEC match up with Vanderbilt.

"They always underplay the Big 12 saying that they, well saying that the SEC is the place to be. But, the Big 12's right there. And all y'all have seen in history that Big 12 and SEC... it's always a good game," Verkedric Vaughns, a senior safety for the Bears, said.

After a couple of weeks of bowl prep, the Bears are ready to play.

The seniors hope to make the most out of every moment left they have with their team, brothers, and they're thankful for one last chance to put a good game on tape for NFL scouts.

"I feel like the whole team is ready to get the show on the road, but we gotta take it one day at a time and get better at the small things that will help us win," Blake Lynch, Bears' junior linebacker, said.

"We get a lot of work done in these two weeks before that we've been bowl prepping. So, like Coach Rhule said today, we like to get really your grind out right here on our field, on our practice field right here... and then, you can go to Houston, relax a little bit. You're still gonna be working your butt off and competing against each other, but it's a good feeling to know you've worked hard enough here to where you can enjoy those events and that fun at the bowl, Patrick Lawrence, senior offensive lineman for the Bears, said.

The Bears are expected to attend a Houston Rockets game, participate in a rodeo bowl and more in the days leading up to the game.
