COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M Soccer has added transfer Daria Britton for the 2019 campaign, head coach G Guerrieri announced Monday.

Britton, a 6-1 defender from San Antonio, spent the 2018 campaign playing at High Point University in North Carolina. She enters Texas A&M as a sophomore with three years of eligibility.

“We are excited about bringing Daria into our Aggie Soccer family,” Guerrieri said. “She will give us a big boost with her aerial domination and ball-winning skills in 2019 and beyond.”

The Alamo Heights High School graduate played in 12 games for High Point in 2018, all off the bench. She logged 310 minutes on the Panthers’ backline.

“It’s neat to have a top player from our state wanting to come home and compete for championships,” Guerrieri said. “Her elder sister is an Aggie who will be graduating from A&M this coming spring, so I know the entire family is over-the-moon joyful to have their girls together, safe and happy in Aggieland to receive a world class education, plus Daria will have an unmatched soccer experience.”

A four-year letterwinner at Alamo Heights, Britton was named Texas Association of Soccer Coaches Organization (TASCO) 6A All-Texas First Team in 2017 and Second Team in 2016. She was also selected District 26-5A Defensive Player of the Year in 2017 and All-District 26-5A First Team in 2016 and ’17. Britton was named to the San Antonio Express News All-Area Class 5A Team in 2016 and ‘17. She guided the Mules to undefeated district titles on three occasions and regional finals spots in 2016 and ‘17.

Britton competed on the club circuit for Classics Elite Soccer Academy from 2008-17 and Albion Hurricanes ECNL from 2014-16. She was named to Top Drawer Soccer’s Best XI at the ECNL Texas 2016 and Classics Elite Best XI at ECNL Phoenix 2017. Her club team won the South Texas State Championship as part of the USYS National Championship Series in 2014 and ’15. Additionally the club was US Club Soccer USC National Premier League Champions in 2015-16 and 2016-17 and competed in the National Finals of the National Premiere League each year.
