UMHB's Women's Basketball beats Ozarks to stay unbeaten

BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s basketball team built a double-digit first quarter lead and never looked back as the Cru rolled over the University of the Ozarks 82-57 Saturday afternoon in Belton. UMHB improves to 9-0 overall and 4-0 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The loss drops the Eagles to 4-6 overall and 2-1 in the ASC.

The two teams were tied at nine before the Cru went on a 13-2 run to close the first period for a 22-11 lead. UMHB stretched it out to a 16-point advantage at halftime and would lead by as many as 29 points in the third quarter before coasting to the victory.

Kendall Rollins led a balanced scoring attack for UMHB with 16 points and she added a game-high nine rebounds. Hannah Holt chipped in 15 points and Aubrie Elliott came off the bench to score. Twelve different players scored for the Cru in the game and UMHB shot 39 percent from the field as a team. The team also won the rebounding battle 51-33 as UMHB pulled down 21 offensive boards.

Delanei Stephens was the only player on double figures for Ozarks with 13 points. The Eagles shot 35 percent from the field as a team and committed 18 turnovers in the loss.

UMHB will return to action with a 5:30 pm home game against U.T.-Tyler on Monday. The Cru will then host Schreiner University on Thursday in the final game before the Christmas break.
