The UMHB Women’s Basketball team earned their first American Southwest Conference road win of the season Saturday in a 75-70 topping of UT Dallas in Richardson. The Cru improved to 8-0 on the season and 3-0 in ASC play with the win while UT Dallas fell to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in league play.
UMHB jumped to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter and led by as many as eight points early in the quarter. The Comets rallied late, taking a three-point lead before the Cru tied the game at 18-18 after the first. UMHB opened the second quarter with a 12-1 run to gain an 11-point advantage and ended the half up four points. UT Dallas tied the contest at 45 points with 4:03 left in the third and held UMHB within four points for the remainder of the quarter. The Comets led by one late in the fourth but UMHB used a 5-0 lead in the final 1:20 of play to secure the five-point victory.
Hannah Holt and Kendall Rollins led the Cru with 16 points each while D’Ashiah Williams added 14 points. UMHB shot 49.2 percent from the field and 25 percent from beyond the arc. Madison McCoy led the Cru with four assists while Aubrie Elliott and Allaira Jones led the Cru with six rebounds each. Victoria Pena led the Comets with 22 points as UTD shot 42.9 percent from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc.
UMHB returns to action on Saturday, December 15th in a 1 p.m. contest against the University of the Ozarks at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton.
