Baylor Houstonians excited for Texas Bowl

"We're definitely better than Dallas and about the other half of the team is from there, that area," said Baylor lineman -- and Houston native -- Blake Blackmar with a laugh, "It's just a Houston pride thing and we take it very seriously."

Blackmar recalled as a younger player (and even now) getting ribbed by Dallas natives about his home city, but now Baylor will head to Houston to play in the Texas Bowl Dec 27.

Seniors like Blackmar, defensive lineman Ira Lewis, and wide receiver Chris Platt will get to finish their career with the Bears in their home city and that isn't something they're taking for granted.

"I feel like I'm going out the right way and God set thing up you know?," said Lewis, "I'm going out the way I want to go out."

Platt says this bowl berth means even more to this senior class because what they went through the year before going 1-11.

"We sat down in the offseason as seniors and asked what do we need to do to turn this around? And then we said we needed to be involved more with the underclassmen to get them on board. We wanted to tell them this is the way and if they listen to have a domino effect."

Baylor will find out just how much momentum they can generate when they play Vanderbilt in NRG Stadium Dec 27.
