A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper was taken to the hospital late Sunday night after being hit while inside a patrol vehicle on Interstate 35.
DPS said the trooper was in the southbound shoulder near mile marker 361, north of Abbott, when a Volvo 18-wheeler crashed into the back of the patrol vehicle.
The trooper was taken to Baylor Scott & White in Waco and treated for injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the Volvo was not injured.
DPS said they will continue to investigate and charges are possible.
