The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s basketball team used a solid defensive effort to build a lead and the Cru never looked back in an 80-48 win over LeTourneau University Saturday in Belton. UMHB improves to 7-0 overall and 2-0 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The loss drops the YellowJackets to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in the ASC.

The Cru opened up a 10-point lead just 5:43 into the game and held a 26-12 edge after the opening quarter. The lead would grow to 45-26 at halftime and UMHB never let LeTourneau get closer than that 19-point advantage the rest of the way.

Kendall Rollins led a balanced scoring effort for the Cru with 16 points as she went 4-4 from three-point range. Hannah Holt added 14 points and 12 different players scored in the game. UMHB shot 50 percent from the field as a team and went 8-15 from beyond the arc. The Cru also forced 25 turnovers in the game.

Keauna Whitfield was the only player in double figures for the YellowJackets with 10 points. LeTourneau shot just 31 percent as a team and went 6-19 from long-range. LeTourneau did out rebound the Cru 41-35.

UMHB will return to action with another conference game next Saturday. The Cru will travel to Richardson to face nationally ranked U.T.-Dallas in that contest.
