‘Tis the season of giving! But if the idea of wrapping presents gets your tinsel in a tangle, there is some good news. Some retailers are offering to do the job for their customers.
“Regardless of one's feelings towards ribbons, shiny paper and tape – shoppers spend about three hours during the holidays wrapping gifts. This is a substantial amount of time, so when retailers offer free or discounted gift wrapping services, it can really be the highlight of someone's shopping experience,” said Sara Skirboll from Retail Me Not.
There are several that will tie everything up with a bow for free or a low fee.
The retail giant offers wrapping services based on the size and shape of the item. You can expect to pay between $3.99 and $5.99. If the item can’t be wrapped, Amazon shoppers can opt for a cloth gift bag.
Tech-savvy shoppers can pay $5 for signature gift wrapping, and engraving on the back of a device is free.
When shopping inside a brick and mortar location, shoppers can grab a free gift box to wrap and assemble yourself. Online shoppers can get a free gift box, but there is an additional charge for wrapping with tissue, ribbon and a gift card.
Wrapping is free for customers purchasing in-store, and $3.99 per item.
There is a free gift wrapping station complete with boxes, paper, scissors and tape. Online shoppers can pay $4.99 per order. Unfortunately, oversized items cannot be gift-wrapped.
In-store shoppers can get a free personalized message, while online shoppers are charged $5 per box. MAC Cosmetics. Wrapping is free for a limited time.
Prices vary for in-store wrapping. Online shoppers can pay $6 for a gift box, tissue and ribbon.
Nordstrom:
Free boxes and paper are available, but only the cosmetics department offer actual gift-wrapping services.
Online shoppers can expect to pay $2 for a box with tissue paper, a box, and a blank gift tag, or get a short gift message for free.
In-store purchases are wrapped free of charge. Online purchases are $6 per package, plus a free personalized message.
Sephora. It is free in stores. Just ask for gift boxes or bags when you check out. Online shoppers can pay $3 for a gift satchel and $5 for a gift box.
Target will not wrap in stores, however, online purchases can be wrapped for $5.99 per item.
