NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After leading the Aggies to a victory in the longest and highest-scoring game in NCAA history, Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond was named the Walter Camp Football Foundation’s FBS National Offensive Player of the Week.
Mond threw for 287 yards and a career-high six touchdowns while rushing for 42 yards and a touchdown in a 74-72 victory in seven overtimes against the No. 8 LSU Tigers.
Mond connected with Quartney Davis on a 19-yard strike at the end of regulation to send the game into overtime, and accumulated five touchdowns in the overtime period to give the Aggies their first victory over LSU since 1995.
The San Antonio, Texas, native distributed the ball evenly as three Aggie wide receivers recorded multiple touchdowns for the first time in program history. His six touchdowns were the second-most in a single game by an Aggie quarterback.
Mond is the 10th Aggie since 2004 to earn Walter Camp FBS National Player of the Week honors and the first since Trevor Knight in 2016.
