University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s basketball player Alicia Blackwell has been named American Southwest Conference West Division Player of the Week for the week ending November 18th. Blackwell was honored for her performance in the Richard Dardenne Memorial Classic in Alabama over the weekend.
Blackwell, a junior guard from Prestonwood Christian High School, averaged 17.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and four assists per game in leading the Cru women to a 2-0 record in the tournament. She shot 61 percent from the field and hit 40 percent from three-point range. Blackwell also had three steals and a blocked shot while landing a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
UMHB is 2-0 to open the season. The Cru will return to action with a 6 pm home game against Texas Wesleyan on Tuesday at the Mayborn Campus Center.
