YouTube released about 100 new movies to watch for free on the platform. Users just have to watch the ads accompanying the feature to view the film for no charge.

YouTube has slowly been rolling out the feature since October. Now, Youtube users can watch movies like "Legally Blonde" and "The Terminator" without having a paid account.

"We saw this opportunity based on user demand, beyond just offering paid movies. Can we do ad-supported movies, free to the user?" says Rohit Dhawan, director of product management at YouTube, according to AdAge. "It also presents a nice opportunity for advertisers."

Eventually, there could be a way for advertisers to pay to sponsor individual movies, giving users complimentary views and exclusive screenings, Dhawan added.
