The La Vega Pirates are playoff bound and will face Lake Worth round one of the playoffs.
The Pirates consider playoffs to be a standard and look forward to making a deep run this year.
They pride themselves on "not being fancy," and La Vega Head Coach Don Hyde's message to his team is simple: keep it basic.
"The three things you gotta do in football: block, tackle and not turn it over, take care of the football. If you do those three things, you got a chance to be successful every Friday night," Coach Hyde said.
"We have sound tacklers, and we block well on the offensive line. We just try to impose our will, and the basics will take you far, if you do the basics right," Jaelyn Maladdie, a La Vega senior offensive and defensive lineman, said.
The Pirates will play the Bullfrogs in Waxahachie Thursday night. Kick off is set for 7 p.m.
