UMHB Men's Basketball edges Texas Lutheran 90-87

SEGUIN, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's basketball team got a huge day from Brian Long and a key three-pointer from Sam Moore as the Cru topped Texas Lutheran 90-87 Saturday afternoon in Seguin. UMHB improves to 2-0 with the win. The loss drops the Bulldogs to 0-1 on the year.

TLU tied the game at 87 on a lay-up with 1:11 remaining. After a pair of misses, Moore buried the go-ahead three with 14 seconds left to play. The Bulldogs had a chance to tie it at the buzzer but missed on a desperation three as UMHB held on. The Cru had trailed by as many as 14 points in the second half before storming back to grab the late lead.

Long finished with a career-high 41 points on 18-20 shooting from the field. Moore added 19 points and Demarius Cress chipped in with 12. UMHB shot 54 percent from the field in the game and hit 60 percent in the second half. LaKendric Hyson grabbed seven of UMHB's 38 rebounds.

Jacob Kouremetis led seven Bulldogs in double figures with 22 points. TLU shot 48 percent as a team and was out rebounded by ten boards by UMHB in the contest.

UMHB returns to action with another road game against a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent next week. The Cru will take on Trinity University Wednesday night in San Antonio.
