MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team fell 3-0 to Emory University Sunday afternoon in Georgia. UMHB ended its season at 28-5 while Emory advances to the tournament quarterfinals at 27-6. The loss came in the Championship Match of the Mount Berry Regional.
Emory earned the win with three straight 25-19, 25-20, 25-14 set wins. Corinne Novak led the Cru with nine kills while Sarah Paolini and Jenna Gillean each added eight. UMHB hit 29 kills on 87 attacks for a .230 percentage in the match. Miranda Klein led the Cru with 25 assists. Defensively, Klein and Haleigh Evans led with seven digs each as Hope Hoelscher put up a team-high seven blocks. UMHB totaled 29 assists, 35 digs and ten team blocks. Emory University hit .317 in the match, adding 14 aces, 43 digs and six team blocks. Gillean and Klein were both named to the Regional's All-Tournament Team.
UMHB ends its season at 28-5 after advancing to the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history.
