The I-35 southbound and northbound mainlanes are set to close in Temple for construction this weekend.
On Saturday from 8 p.m. – 11:45 a.m., the southbound lanes and one northbound lane are set to close. A contractor will shift the northbound mainlane into a new alignment.
Crews will also open a temporary northbound #301 exit to Central Ave./Adams Ave.
Both southbound lanes will close at exit #301, travelers will be directed through Adams Ave./Central Ave. intersections by police officers and will re-enter the mainlanes before S. Loop 363.
The contractor will also close the northbound frontage road bridge over the railroad at that time. This will allow the contractor to complete the new northbound frontage road from the bridge to Central Ave., along with building the permanent northbound exit #301 off-ramp.
Travelers on the east side of I-35 can access the northbound mainlanes on 31st Street to Adams Ave.
In addition, the new turnaround under I-35 at the railroad crossing and the turns at S. Loop 363 can be used to get to the new on-ramp at Ira Young Dr. to enter the I-35 northbound mainlanes.
These closures are planned weather permitting. Rain or cold temperatures could delay work, according to TxDOT.
