Fourth-ranked Baylor equestrian (4-1, 1-1 Big 12) has a big weekend ahead with competition against two top-10 teams at the Fresno State Invitational, running Nov. 9-10 at the Student Horse Center in Fresno, Calif.

The Bears first face fifth-ranked South Carolina in equitation on the flat and horsemanship Friday at approximately 4 p.m. CT before resuming play with equitation over fences and reining Saturday afternoon at noon CT.

After wrapping up that competition, Baylor returns to action against host and 10th-ranked Fresno State at approximately 2 p.m. CT.

Baylor is 3-0 in nonconference action this season, winning the Willis Invitational on Sept. 29, which included a win over then-No. 8 Fresno State. The Bears dominated the Bulldogs, winning 11-4.

In that matchup, BU swept equitation on the flat and horsemanship with 4-0 scores and went 2-1 in reining to seal the win. The Bulldogs won equitation over fences, 3-1.

Last season, Baylor downed then-No. 10 South Carolina at the Delaware State tournament, 8-6. With equitation over fences cancelled due to snowy conditions, BU took dominant wins in reining (3-1) and horsemanship (3-1) to capture the victory.

BU comes into the weekend with Big 12 Riders of Month Rachael Davis (equitation on the flat) and Abbi Demel (horsemanship). Both riders are a combined 10-0 in their events with four MOP honors.
