BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team will face Birmingham-Southern in the First Round of the NCAA Division III Volleyball National Championships. UMHB won their third American Southwest Conference title and automatic bid to the national tournament.
The Cru will face Birmingham-Southern in the First Round of the NCAA Regional on Friday, November 9th at 5:30 p.m. (ET). Berry College earned the right to host the regional with a Southern Athletic Association title. The winner of UMHB and Birmingham-Southern will advance to face the winner of Berry and Rose-Hulman on Saturday, November 10th at 8:00 p.m. (ET) with the regional championship scheduled for Sunday, November 11th.
“It just felt like a dream come true, said Cru junior Cory Jo Martin. “This is something we’ve worked for all season.”
Birmingham-Southern earned an at-large bid to the tournament after falling to Berry College in the SAA Tournament Championship. Colorado College, Washington & Lee, Emory and Meredith will also compete in the regional.
UMHB is currently 26-4 on the season and goes into the tournament on a four-match win-streak. The Cru earned a 3-2 win over UT Dallas to take the 2018 ASC title and bid to the postseason. Ticket and broadcast information will be posted when it becomes available.
