UMHB Men’s Soccer edges UT Dallas 1-0 for ASC title

RICHARDSON, Texas   – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s soccer team earned its second consecutive American Southwest Conference Men’s Soccer Championship with a 1-0 win over UT Dallas Sunday afternoon in Richardson.

Steven Dang netted the game-winner for the Cru in the 71st minute, scoring off an assist from Rolando Nieto for the 1-0 UMHB win. UMHB outshot the Comets 14-8 in the contest, putting four shots on frame and limiting the Comets to just one. Travis Aday earned the win for the Cru, making one save in the full 90-minute contest while Chase Therrien took the loss for UTD, making three saves with one goal allowed.

Dang earned 2018 ASC Tournament MVP honors and was joined on the ASC All-Tournament team by Tyler Childs, Seth Neveloff and Caleb Vandergriff. UMHB earned the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship Tournament with the win. The bracket will be announced in the selection show on Monday, November 5th at 12:30 p.m. on NCAA.com
