Baylor women’s golf heads to Mexico to host the second-annual Battle at the Beach, which runs Friday through Sunday at Club Campestre San Jose in Los Cabos, Mexico.
A 17-team field will play one round per day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with all three rounds slated for shotgun starts. Friday’s first round and Saturday’s second round tee off at 10:30 a.m. CT (8:30 a.m. in Los Cabos), and Sunday’s final round begins at 9:15 a.m. CT (7:15 a.m. in Los Cabos).
The tournament field includes No. 22 Auburn, No. 21 Baylor, No. 23 Clemson, Denver, No. 42 Houston, Iowa, Mississippi State, Missouri, New Mexico, No. 27 Oklahoma, No. 2 Texas, No. 32 TCU, Tulane, Tulsa, UAB, No. 5 Vanderbilt and No. 9 Virginia.
Baylor’s lineup is led by Gurleen Kaur in the No. 1 spot. Maria Vesga is playing at No. 2, followed by Fiona Liddell at No. 3, Diane Baillieux at No. 4 and Laila Hrindova at No. 5. Erica Chiang, Amelia McKee, Jordan Shackelford will compete as individuals, with Chiang making her Division I debut after joining Baylor out of Seminole State College.
Baylor hosts the event on the par-71, 6,202-yard course at Club Campestre. The inaugural Battle at the Beach was played in November 2017, with the Bears tying for seventh place in a 14-team field. UCLA won the tournament title by three strokes over Oklahoma, followed by Texas in third place, Virginia in fourth and Auburn and Houston tied for fifth place.
