Waco police have identified the man who was killed after an auto-pedestrian accident in Waco on Thursday.
Police said 72-year-old Donald Sanford was walking in the southbound lanes on Interstate 35 when he was hit around 8:40 p.m.
Officers said they believe Sanford was trying to cross I-35 and was then struck by a white Ford Fusion. Police said at least one other vehicle had to swerve to keep from hitting him.
Sanford was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford Fusion was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
A blood sample has been ordered for the man's body, but an autopsy has not.
This is an ongoing investigation, but police say criminal charges are not being filed.
