The Midway Panthers lost their opening game by 30, but since then they've railed off six straight wins and head coach Jeff Hulme couldn't be prouder.
"It shows great perseverance. I think it shows they didn't like the way we started. I think it shows they are willing to work hard and get after it. The fruits of that hard work are what we've been able to do in district and hopefully what we're able to do this week."
What they have this week are the overall undefeated Temple Wildcats at their stadium. Midway was the State Runner Up last season, so they're no stranger to big games.
This team has taken that a step further, only failing to score more than 50 points just one time in district [@ Killeen]. But, if you ask the players, their best offensive football is ahead of them.
"It's all on our O-line, Nick Jimenez, James Fullbright, I mean if we get our run game going good at the beginning they'll try and load the box on us," said senior wide receiver D'ante Thomas, "Then it will be easy for us. That will make it easy for our receivers."
That rushing game was in jeopardy last week when running back James Fullbright left the Shoemaker game with a leg injury. Coach Hulme says the star back is fine and will make the start Friday.
Midway kicks off against Temple at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
