Baylor head coach Matt Rhule offered an update on quarterback Charlie Brewer during his media availability Wednesday.
"He's still in the [concussion] protocol. He's progressed all the way through it so we're hopeful he'll be available Saturday."
Rhule says Brewer participated in non-contact drills over the last two days, but doctors have yet to put him through his final cognitive test.
Right now, back up quarterback Jalan McClendon is slated to start. The 6'5" senior transfer from NC State has seen limited action this season, but Rhule says he brings a few different things to the table from Brewer.
"We threw a post yesterday and he threw it like 78 yards into the wind. I mean, he's just got such a big arm you hope he extends the field. In terms of the rushing game, you know, it is what it is with us. We'll kind of do what we've been doing. But, you hope you can maybe extend your play action game a little bit with Jalan."
Rhule also listed freshman Gerry Bohanon as an option against Oklahoma State Saturday. The Bears kick off their homecoming game at 11 a.m. in McLane Stadium.
