Baylor women's basketball is ranked No. 4 nationally after receiving 679 points in the 2018-19 Preseason AP Top 25 Women’s Basketball Poll, released Wednesday morning by the organization.

The Lady Bears rank in the Top 5 for the fourth year in a row and the seventh time overall, checking in among the Top 10 in each preseason poll since 2010-11.

Notre Dame was the unanimous No. 1 with 775 points, followed by UConn with 728 points at No. 2 and Oregon at No. 3 with 712 points. Louisville rounds out the Top 5 with 664 points.

Baylor advanced to its 10th consecutive NCAA Sweet 16 last season, collected a 33-2 overall record and return a pair of All-Americans in Kalani Brown and Lauren Cox. Six letter winners return from the 2017-18 roster, and the team welcomes six newcomers.

The Lady Bears open the regular season vs. Nicholls State on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 6 p.m. in Waco at the Ferrell Center, hosting Texas A&M-Commerce on Thursday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m. for a final exhibition tune-up.
