The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s soccer team earned a 2-0 win in its ASC quarterfinal match against McMurry University Tuesday evening in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 13-3-1 on the season while the War Hawks end their season at 6-8-4 overall.
Seth Neveloff gave UMHB a lead in the 14th minute, scoring an unassisted goal to put the Cru up by one. UMHB’s defense did not allow a shot in the first half as the Cru offense put two of their eight shots on frame. UMHB held that lead until the 75th minute when Jacob Cabezas hit a rocket just outside the box off a pass from Josh Bruton to give the Cru the 2-0 win.
Patrick Roach and Steven Dang led the Cru with three shots each as UMHB outshot the Tornados 15-4 in the contest. Travis Aday earned the win in the net for UMHB, making three saves in the shutout. Aidan Keane took the loss for McMurry, giving up two goals and making two saves.
UMHB advances in the tournament and will face No. 3 seed Concordia Texas in an 8 p.m. semifinal match on Friday, November 2nd. The semifinal and final rounds of the tournament will be hosted by No. 1 seed UT Dallas in Richardson.
