BELTON, Texas – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s soccer defender Steven Dang was named the American Southwest Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 29th.
Dang, a senior from Plano, Texas (West H.S.), helped the Cru to a 2-0 week as a starting defender. He played a full 90-minute contest against Hardin-Simmons and contributed to a defense that surrendered just one shot to the Cowboys. Dang followed that with 44 minutes against Sul Ross State University, limiting the Lobos to just four shots while he was in the game. Dang also scored two goals against Sul Ross State. He currently has eight goals and three assists on the season as a defender.
Omar Aguirre of Concordia Texas and Jose Poo of UT Tyler shared the offensive honors. UMHB returns to action on Tuesday, October 30th in an 8 p.m. American Southwest Conference Quarterfinal match against McMurry University at the UMHB Soccer Fields in Belton.
