Texas family creates Harry Potter's Diagon Alley in their front yard after mother's battle with breast cancer
You no longer need to go to the Leaky Cauldron to find Diagon Alley. One Austin family brought the magical storefront to life in the front yard of their own home.
All Harry Potter fans know that it is impossible to start the school year without a new broom, cauldron and some quirky bits from the Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes. You can find all that and more on Hopeland Drive in the Circle C Ranch neighborhood in Austin.

So how did this magical piece of art come to be? The story behind Austin's Diagon Alley Halloween House is just as inspiring (if even more so) than the story behind Harry Potter.
Amanda Pace was recovering from breast cancer last year, and her husband decided to start decorating the front yard with a Harry Potter theme. It didn't take long for the whole family to pour their creativity into the new outlet after a challenging year.
This year, her husband took the project to the next level and got the neighborhood involved in Diagon Alley, starting in June. The project was also inspired by their son who is very active in performing arts.
"Our son is very involved in musical theatre programs in Austin (ZACH Scott Pre-Professional Company & KidsActing Elite Ensemble), so we are theatre parents and love the performing arts," Pace said.
Volunteers are featured on their Facebook page, where they show the step-by-step process of bringing the set to life.
The display will be open for Halloween, and the family will update their Facebook page once dates are announced.
