GOTW Preview: Cameron Yoe ready for Rockdale

GOTW Preview: Cameron Yoe ready for Rockdale

"This is the greatest time of the year," said Cameron Yoe senior lineman Caleb Hubnik, "We're all out here just to have a good time and hopefully kick Rockdale's butt."

The Battle of the Bell -- so named for the 75-year-old railway bell played for as a trophy -- will pit Rockdale and Cameron Yoe against each other Friday night.

Head coach Tommy Brashear's Yoemen haven't won the game in two straight tries. For a Yoe alum like Brashear, that's too long.

"This is the one everyone wants to win. You'd be crazy not to say this one means a little more."

Both teams are talented, but after a down year last season, the Yoemen have returned to form outscoring opponents by a combined 114 points over the last three weeks. Even with the improvements, Brashear says this year's rendition has some higher stakes.

"This is for first place in district. If we win we're in first place all by ourselves. With a loss we're tied for first place with Rockdale and Troy. Our goal is to be district champs and go as far as we can in the playoffs and to do that we have to win this game Friday against Rockdale."

The Yoemen will try to accomplish their goal at home Friday night at 7:30 against the Tigers.
