Behind two double-doubles from Yossiana Pressley and Aniah Philo, Baylor volleyball (13-7, 5-4 Big 12) grinded out a five-set victory over TCU (12-8, 4-5 Big 12) Wednesday night inside the Rickel of the University Recreation Center, 25-17, 14-25, 25-15, 24-26, 15-8.

The Bears swept the Horned Frogs for the second consecutive season and improve to 15-7 in the all-time series, including 5-3 record under head coach Ryan McGuyre.

Pressley paced the offense with 30 kills on a .254 efficiency for her third 30-kill match of the season. She added 11 digs for her eighth double-double of the season. Aniah Philo returned into the lineup and posted 11 kills and 15 digs for her ninth double-double of 2018.

Behind the service line, junior Tara Wulf recorded a career-high five service aces to lead all players.

Baylor was firing on all cylinders to open the match and climbed out 10-5 lead with a block from Philo, Shelly Fanning and Nicole Thomas. The offense kept rolling, and a Fanning kill closed out the opening frame, 25-17.

The Horned Frogs fired back in the second set while Baylor struggled offensively. TCU closed it out on a 4-0 run to even up the match, 25-14.

BU bounced back quickly in the third and opened with an 11-3 run to force the TCU timeout. Baylor didn’t let up and used two kills from Pressley and Philo to take the frame, 25-15.

The fourth set had 16 tie scores and four lead changes, and Baylor used two straight blocks to tie it up at 19-19. The Bears erased one set point with a Fanning kill, but a TCU block forced a fifth, 26-24.

It was all Bears early in set five after Wulf served up back-to-back aces for the 3-0 lead. Up 8-5 at the changeover, BU never let up and used a kill from Philo to close the match, 15-8.
