Navarro County District Attorney R. Lowell Thompson has died. The Corsicana Police Department said he died from complications of pneumonia.
The Navarro County Office of Emergency Management said his death was sudden and a shock to friends and family.
Thompson had been the district attorney since 2006. Before being elected, he was the assistant district attorney for the county from 1997 to 2006.

Thompson's brother, Brent Thompson, was the Dallas Area Rapid Transit police officer who was killed in the July 7, 2016 ambush shooting in downtown Dallas.
