Baylor men’s golf finished in seventh place with a 54-hole total of 36-over-par 876 at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate, which was played at Maridoe Country Club for the first time due to flooding at Royal Oaks. The Bears shot 16-over-par 296 in Tuesday’s final round, finishing just three shots back of the top-five after entering the day in eighth place.
Baylor (+36) placed behind No. 1 Oklahoma State (-13), No. 34 North Carolina State (+19), No. 6 SMU (+23), No. 16 Arkansas (+27), No. 4 Pepperdine (+33) and No. 33 North Carolina (+35). The Bears finished ahead of No. 39 Iowa (+44), Minnesota (+55), Kent State (+57), UTSA (+57), Charlotte (+61), Houston (+73) and Michigan (+78).
Cooper Dossey had the Bears’ best final round with a 1-over 71, which also gave him the team’s best individual finish in a tie for 21st place at 9-over-par 219. Colin Kober also tied for 21st place at 9-over after shooting 8-over 78 in the final round, and he posted the Bears’ best individual round of the tournament with a 1-under 69 in the second round that was completed early on Tuesday.
Garrett May shot 2-over 72 in the final round, finishing with an eagle on the par-5 17th to tie for 26th place at 10-over 220. Braden Bailey carded a final-round 6-over 76 to tie for 41st place at 14-over 224, and Ryan Grider posted Baylor’s last counting score in the final round with a 7-over 77 to tie for 44th place at 15-over 225.
The remaining members of the Baylor roster competed as individuals, with Mark Reppe leading the way in that group with a final-round even-par 70 to finish tied for 46th place at 16-over 226. Brandon Hoff shot 6-over 76 in the final round and tied for 59th place at 22-over 232, while Austin Cotton carded 9-over 79 to tie for 61st place at 23-over 233, and Travis McInroe tied for 72nd place at 29-over 239.
